 Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Walking the World for Blood:Water

Mix 11 languages, 18,000 miles, 7 years, 3 continents, 17 times zones, 14 countries, 36 million steps, one man, a backpack and a dream and you get The Earth Expedition.  A mans dream to walk the worlds continents on nothing but two feet. Since 2006 Daren Wendell has been planning, saving, reading, researching, and training for The Earth Expedition; a dream that he have committed many years to accomplish. “I am drawn to challenge and what people say I cannot do.  I’m attracted to risk; I’m attracted to the unexpected, attracted to new people, new languages, new cultures, and new places. People always ask me the question Why?"

Cyclists ride to raise water awareness

shelbyMiddle Tennessee advocates for clean water had a chance to join a national awareness-raising bike ride Saturday, if only for a couple of hours.

The longer trip began with 18 people on June 10 in Los Angeles to bring attention to the need for cleaner water in sub-Saharan Africa. As the Ride:Well Tour team made its stop in Nashville, riders participated in a city ride, giving locals a chance to participate and help raise funds.

With the combination of the Ride:Well Tour cyclists and about 100 local cyclists, the local goal of $10,000 was met and exceeded.  (story continued)

Third Day and Jars of Clay Raise $75,000 on Christmas Tour

jars/ third dayThanks to all of you who we saw out during the "Christmas Offerings Tour" with Third Day and Jars of Clay.  Nearly $75,000 was raised for Blood:Water Mission during the 12- City "Christmas Offerings Tour." At least 12 entire African villages will now have clean water as a result of money raised during the 12-city tour which saw sell out crowds.

Boston, MA - David

I had never been to Beantown.  I was not there for long, but I loved what I saw.

Washington, DC - Dave

We were in DC this past Thursday.   I personally had not been in a few years and it was great to be in the nation's capital.  So much history and so many monuments to the great men and women who have shaped our country.

Toronto - David

I have been slightly overwhelmed with things lately. Being out on the road can be tiring, numbing and disruptive to perspective. Being forced to adapt to any new way of life would do the same things I suppose. And I am noticing the effects as we press on through the middle of the tour.

St. Catherines, Ontario - David

So every night that we have a hotel we do rock, paper scissors to determine who has to share a bed and who gets a bed to themselves.  Tonight Joe won.  But Matt came up with this crazy brain challenge to give Joe.  If joe solves it within 20 minutes he gets to keep the bed and gets a T-mobile 24 hour internet access card.  If he doesn't solve it, Matt gets the bed.

Peoria, IL - Joe

So I'm hanging out at the hotel with Dave here in Peoria, Illinois after one of the craziest and probably most memorable nights on the tour to date. Last night we were at the Peoria Civic Center for a unique show where the guys from Jars and NeedToBreathe played short sets immediately following a minor league hockey game. I guess its something that they do every now and then--the people who attend the hockey game can attend the concert for free, and its just a cool way to provide a mish mash of entertainment and fun for a community on a Saturday Night.

Peoria, IL - David

This is night number three here in Peoria, IL.  To be honest, even though we have had two shows since coming back from break, I am still getting acclimated to being back out here.  This transition is made even more interesting due to the fact that we are now on another break until the 29th, when we roll into Kalamazoo, MI.

Canton, OH (Home)

Note to self... always save blog as a word document before trying to post on myspace.
After typing up an historic and moving account of the days events, I foolishly lost it all due to an unknown error.  :?(  But here is my best second effort.

Sioux Falls, SD

Well, it's the final day of the first leg of the Spring tour and I know that the three of us are ready to have a week off to re-energize and get excited for the second run of shows through Canada and the East Coast.

Fargo, ND

Yeah, that's right.  Fargo.  I never saw the movie but I've been to the town.  I had this impression of it being a small town, out in the middle of nowhere or something, but it was not.

Walla Walla, WA - Learning the Ropes

Apparantly Walla Walla means water in a language other than English.  I have no clue which one or if that is even actually true.  But it is a good attention getter when you are working for a group that is trying to provide clean water for people who don't have access to it.

On Route

February 24, 2007

Once again in the skies, headed toward Denver, Colorado, after a quick morning flight from Nashville, TN to Atlanta, GA. It is day 4 of our adventure and David, Joe, and I are headed to Denver, so we are strategically positioned to pick-up our trip vehicle, a Dodge Durango that awaits us Monday morning in Colorado Springs, CO.
