When One Member Weeps, We All Weep
I am a single mother of a teenage daughter and a dialysis nurse in a small rural community. Several years ago, God called me to the field of nursing. Not knowing what God had laid out for me, I courageously applied to a nursing program and got accepted. I quit my job and attended college full-time. With God and the help of family, friends, and my church family, I completed nursing school. I have now been a nurse for five years and four of those years I have been specializing in dialysis.
A few months back, I had been praying, asking God to show me how I could make a difference in the lives of others and show them God's love. Shortly thereafter, I picked up HOMELIFE magazine provided by my church and ran across a brief article about Blood:Water Mission. The one thing that continually kept coming to mind was how it only take one dollar to give one person clean water for one year. It just amazes me. Not giving it more thought, I went about my daily life when it really dawned on me that the importance of clean water enables me to care for my patients and how we as American individuals take it for granted.
God started bringing the Blood:Water Mission project to mind each day at work when I dialyzed each patient, and then every time I turned on the water faucet on, and even when I 'd ride by seeing advertisements for bottled water. It was then and there I decided I could make a difference. As I searched your website, my heart started to ache and hurt for those who have lost their families and friends to AIDS.
I turned to the pastor of my church and asked him for support in raising money for this cause. He was elated and gave me opportunities each Sunday to share with the congregation what God had laid on my heart. The first Sunday that I shared what Blood:Water Mission was about, I was given $33.00 to kick off a campaign. With the wealth of information and stories on your website, I shared the information God had laid on my heart and my heart has continually grown more and more passionate for the country of Africa.
Ephesians 3:20-21 said it all to me. God has given us the power through Him to do all things for His glory. With God all things ARE possible. So, I am proud to say that my church body and I believe God and excited to be a part of the Blood:Water Mission. We will continually support this mission because we are part of the body of Christ and when one member weeps, we all weep.
