Illinois Teens Raise $10,000 for clean water

I spent an incredible weekend with over 2000 passionate high schools students from Illinois. Blood:Water Mission was a mission focus for the Illinois Christian Teen Conference. The theme of the conference was "clean" and their mission focus was to raise money for Blood:Water Mission and its clean water projects.

I was joined by Daren Wendell, a young man who has a team of people who are walking across the planet to raise money for Blood:Water Mission. We encouraged people to use their own gifts and passions to be advocates for HIV/AIDS and water projects in Africa. ICTC took an offering in the morning and raised $6,000! The leaders of ICTC then challenged the students to raise $3000 more. By the end of the day, over $10,000 was raised for Blood:Water Mission. Additionally, hundreds of students have taken the two week challenge to make water their only beverage for two weeks. They are saving the money they would have spent on non-water drinks and sending it in to provide the essential beverage for Africans, water.

Hundreds of other students are going back to their homes, churches and schools to do creative fundraisers for Blood:Water Mission. From bake sales to benefit concerts, we at Blood:Water Mission are excited to hear about  the stories of creativity and advocacy across the state of Illinois.

I'm inspired by the continual movement of young people who believe that they have something to offer. Mother Teresa said, "You can do no great things. But you can do small things with great love." That's what we're about here at Blood:Water Mission - encouraging everyone to find small ways to put great love behind what they do. I am so thankful.

For those of you who were at ICTC, leave a comment and let us know how your 2 Weeks of Sacrifice and other creative campaigns are going!

Illinois Teens Raise $10,000 for clean water (1 comments)

Hey I just wanted to say that ICTC was freaking amazing!!! The youth there were really encouraging and we all raised like 10,000 dollars. I have been telling all of my friends about the two weeks of sacrifice thing that the speaker told us about and they all are excited.
