As the winner of the Impact Award for International Development, Blood:Water will receive a donation of $10,000 and media throughout the MySpace.com website, featured placement on the Impact Awards community page for one month from the date of the announcement of the winner, featured placement in the MySpace monthly newsletter (which goes out to all active MySpace users) and a bulletin announcing the Impact Awards winner to the community.
“Blood:Water Mission is privileged to be a part of two rescues, the first, is the tangible rescue from disease and poverty that plagues so many communities in Africa. We do this by supporting african's as they use their knowledge and wisdom of their people, geography and customs, to create sustainable ways to rise out of poverty. This has mostly taken the tangible form of clean water wells, rain catchment tanks, and protected springs married with sanitation and hygiene training. Water is the foundation for sustainable community development. What we are most excited about is that we see communities taking ownership of the future for their children, for their health, and for their lives.
The other rescue is the one that happens in the West... We, the chronically wealthy, being rescued from our trivia. We are helping people become aware of their choices, and how they effect people across oceans. Blood:Water is investing in the conversations about using our influence, our vocations, our talents, our own resources to bring light and further resources to the stories of people whose poverty is more physical, in contrast to ours which is much more of a poverty of compassion, responsibility, and action.
It is an honor to win this award. The MySpace community is a fertile place to grow the seeds of justice, compassion, love and action. And to help people see that their story is ready for the chapter about how each one of us changes the world and allows health, love and hope to be new characters in the stories of those who have gone without them for far too long.
Thank you for the honor of being recognized, it deepens our commitment to be in this conversation with you, and to fight for what is good and life giving for our african brothers, sisters and friends.”
Humbly yours- Dan Haseltine of Jars of Clay (founder- Blood:Water Mission)
